Account of his activities as a Mormon missionary in the London Conference of the British Mission. He served in Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton, London, and other cities. Includes a copy of a letter from his father, A. O. Smoot, Sr., dated 15 October 1876 from Provo, Utah. Entry dated 6 February 1877 includes a copied account of the dedication of the St. George (Utah) Temple on 1 January 1877. Volume identified on spine as Smoot's third journal. Collection includes original manuscript and photocopy. Also includes newspaper clippings, and a photocopy of two broadsides advertising Latter-day Saint meetings.

Abraham O. Smoot was born 17 February 1815 in Owenton, Franklin County (later Owen County), Kentucky. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1835, when twenty years old, and led a group of Saints from the south to Far West, Missouri in 1837. He later served as captain of the second company to enter the Salt Lake Valley, arriving in September of 1847.
